A Fresh Look and More Standard Safety for the 2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer

Two themes stand out in Chevrolet’s 2027 update for the Trax and Trailblazer: how these small SUVs look, and how much safety technology comes standard. Both get attention, and both models benefit.

The Trax receives a new face and rear end, while the Trailblazer gains a reworked cabin and a new Z71 trim with its own rugged style.

On the safety side, both SUVs move to more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features. The updated models are anticipated at Chevrolet dealers in spring 2027.

Part One: A Fresh Look

The Trax Gets a More Premium Design

Chevrolet describes the 2027 Trax as having a more premium look and feel. The front gets a new grille, and new wheel designs join the lineup. At the rear, all-LED taillamps and a redesigned liftgate change the view from behind.

Each trim carries its own style:

  • Trax LT: wheels with a higher-contrast finish for an urban look
  • Trax RS: 19-inch wheels, the largest across all trims, for a sportier stance
  • Trax ACTIV: an adventure-inspired look with a unique front-end design

Inside, the Trax gets distinctive hexagonal side vents that give the instrument panel a fresh, modern appearance.

The Trailblazer Z71 Brings Its Own Look

The Trailblazer’s styling news centres on the new Z71 trim. Along with its hardware, the Z71 gets debossed front-row headrests and a new Jet Black and Storm Sky Gray interior with Orange accents.

Under that look, the Z71 is equipped for rougher roads. It comes with standard all-wheel drive, an off-road-tuned suspension, an underbody skid plate and sport-terrain tires. Chevrolet calls it the brand’s entry-level adventure-ready AWD model.

A Cleaner Trailblazer Cabin

Every 2027 Trailblazer gets a new column-mounted shifter. That change let Chevrolet redesign the centre console with more flexible storage, including cupholders that can retract to open up space. Rear passengers gain their own HVAC vents.

Storm Sky Gray Debuts

Storm Sky Gray is an all-new interior colour for the Chevrolet brand. It debuts on both the Trax and Trailblazer and brings a natural, earthy tone to the cabin.

Part Two: More Standard Safety

Why the Safety List Grew

Chevrolet upgraded the electrical and software architecture in both SUVs. That upgrade enables more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features on the 2027 Trax and Trailblazer.

What Comes Standard

Standard features named by Chevrolet include Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat and Blind Zone Steering Assist. Features newly added to the standard list for 2027 include:

New Standard Feature

What It Helps With

Reverse Automatic Braking

Backing up

Rear Cross Traffic Braking

Reversing out of parking spots

Front Park Assist

Low-speed parking at the front

Side Bicyclist Alert

Awareness of cyclists beside the vehicle

Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking

Intersections

Rear Seat Belt Indicator

Rear passenger belt use

Having this list as standard means shoppers do not need to climb to a top trim to get the core safety features. Like all driver assistance systems, they support the driver, who stays responsible for driving safely.

Bonus: Technology Upgrades

The safety upgrade comes with a tech upgrade. Both models get a new, larger standard 11-inch-diagonal driver information centre and an 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen, running Google built-in with Gemini compatibility.

An OnStar Basics plan of up to eight years is included, and newly available OnStar One will be included for 12 months with services such as an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot.

Convenience also improves at the back. A power liftgate will be available on the Trax for the first time, and the AutoSense power liftgate will be available on the Trailblazer.
