2022 GMC Hummer EV: it bodes well!

GMC, the truck division of General Motors, has unveiled its first all-electric vehicle, the Hummer EV. The Hummer EV will make its Canadian debut in the fall of 2021 as the 2022 model, but with what has been presented, we would like to see it available now.

Basically, it's because the model that was presented promises to be very interesting in many ways. Let's look at the highlights.

1 - Style

It was easy to recognize a Hummer at the time on the road. It will be just as easy to do so with the electric version. The electric version has a unique style. It even has a removable roof made up of four sections. These can be hidden in the front trunk of the vehicle when you want to drive in the open air. A transparent roof is even available as an option. Three models will be offered: Hummer EV2, Hummer EV2X and Hummer EV3X.

2 - On-road capabilities

The announced power of the Hummer EV at its first summary presentation was an eye-opener; 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque. All of this was confirmed, but only for the high-end variant. When the curtain goes up, 625 horsepower and 7,400 pound-feet of torque will have to do. In the worst case scenario, the range will be 402 kilometers with the two electric motor models. With a three-motor engine, it can be pushed to over 560 kilometers. The Hummer EV is powered by GM's new Ultium battery. All we need to know is the towing capabilities, but we're not worried.

3 - Off-road capabilities

The Hummer EV was presented as a Super Truck capable of going anywhere. This is visible with the 35-inch wheels it carries, but also because of interesting features that multiply its capabilities tenfold. This is the case of two elements, concretely; the Crabwalk and Extract modes. The first allows the rear wheels to be rotated 10 degrees so that they can move forward or backward diagonally. The second allows the vehicle to be raised 6 inches (15.2 cm) to help it overcome obstacles.

4 - Load capacity

Finally, a word about recharging. Thanks to a capacity of 800 volts, it will be possible, on a 350 kW terminal, to recover a range of 160 kilometers in just 10 minutes.

More information about the Hummer EV will reach us before its official launch here, but you'll understand that with what we've just mentioned, we can't wait for it to be accessible.
