Chevrolet Bolt 2020 vs Tesla Model 3 2020

The electric car is now well established in the automotive world and it is here to stay. General Motors got in on the trend early, coming out with the fully electric Bolt that pairs versatility and style with an ecological and advanced powertrain. The Bolt’s range is much higher than the competition – and that’s what customers are really looking for. Here we compare it with the 2020 Tesla Model 3.

More range for the money in the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt

The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt uses an electric drive unit that boasts 200 hp and 266 lb-ft torque sent to the front wheels. The Chevrolet Bolt can go from 0-96 km/h in 6.5 seconds and it is hooked up to a 66 kWh Rechargeable Energy Storage System that includes liquid thermal management system with automatic activation. It enables the 2020 Bolt to drive up to 417 kilometres without needing a charge.

A base Tesla Model 3 is rear wheel drive, which is less adapted to our climate. It also costs 51 000$, which translates to $38,000 when deducting federal and provincial incentives. It has less range than the Chevrolet Bolt, with just over 400 kilometres.

The Chevrolet Bolt LT comes loaded with black heated power outside mirrors, high gloss black grille Michelin Energy Saver all-season tires with Selfseal technology (P215/50R17) and many more features. After federal and provincial rebates, the price tag comes down to comes down to $34,000. That’s $4,000 less than the Tesla.

More space for cargo in the 2020 Chevy Bolt

With the superior range over its rivals, the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt can easily be taken on a road trip. And for that, it offers better cargo capacity thanks to its 5-door configuration. The total available cargo space in the Bolt stands at 1603 litres. The Tesla Model 3 can only offer 1415 litres.

Beyond technical specifications, the best feature the Chevrolet Bolt has and the Tesla Model 3 doesn’t is support. We at Relais Chevrolet are part of a group of more than a hundred dealers in the province that make sure your vehicle can get serviced when it needs it, with access to a part inventory and specialists that the two sole Tesla service centers will never be able to provide.
