2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer vs 2020 Nissan Kicks: The Small SUV Battle

The small sport utility vehicle niche has grown tremendously in recent years, most notably with the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Nissan Kicks recently hitting the market. While the Nissan Kicks and the Trailblazer both offer cutting edge technology and plenty of versatility, the Chevrolet is the only one of the two to offer all-wheel drive. This is not where the differences end, however.

More efficient engines for the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer

At the heart of the Chevrolet Trailblazer is a standard 1.2-liter ECOTEC turbo engine that develops 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Small and efficient, this engine sets itself apart by offering a lot of torque at low revs, which makes acceleration and passing much more incisive and interesting.

That said, the Trailblazer can also be fitted with a 1.3-liter turbo ECOTEC engine as well, which offers 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Here, we end up with an engine that is much more efficient than not only that of the Nissan Kicks, but also of any other small SUV. Despite its impressive performance, however, the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer offers an average fuel consumption of just 8.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.

The biggest difference between the Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Nissan Kicks is in this 1.3-liter engine. Not only is it impressive in terms of performance, it is also offered with all-wheel drive. As for the 2020 Nissan Kicks, it can't even get all-wheel drive on any model.

To face winter with confidence with optimal traction on both snowy and icy roads, only the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will surpass your expectations. It will also surprise you with its 716-liter cargo space that can accommodate items up to 8 feet long.
