Some tips for a road trip in an electric car this summer

You have an electric car and you want to see the country? Nothing is easier if you prepare in advance. While it's true that electric cars require a bit more planning, it's wrong to think that you can't drive long distances in an electric car.

If, like many Quebecers, you're going on vacation by car this summer, here are a few tips that could be useful.

Plan the route

The most important part of a summer electric car trip is planning your route. It's easy to find out where the charging stations are in the province and make sure you plan your trip accordingly. You can go far with an electric vehicle, just don't drive too far from a charging station.

Give yourself some leeway

The range of electric cars is much more interesting today than ever before. The Chevrolet Bolt, for example, has a range of 417 kilometres. However, we must be careful not to push our distances between recharges too far. The highway tends to shorten the range of all-electric vehicles, and weather conditions can also reduce your range. So, make sure you have plenty of play between stops, say a hundred kilometres.

Use the vehicle's features

The Bolt offers a variety of driving modes that can increase range without requiring changes to your behaviour behind the wheel. Use these modes while ensuring that you are driving at a reasonable speed. If you can, take to country roads if you can, as they will allow you to get more range!
