Inside the 2026 Chevrolet Trax: Key Features Worth Knowing

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax delivers a smart pairing of technology, safety, and practicality in a compact package. If you're shopping for a small SUV that fits city parking and highway trips equally well, the Trax offers features that make daily driving easier and more connected. Here's what stands out.

Technology That Keeps You Connected

The Trax features two infotainment setups depending on trim. The 1RS and 1RS come with an 8-inch colour touchscreen, while the LT, 2RS, and ACTIV step up to an 11-inch HD touchscreen - a noticeable upgrade for easier navigation and clearer graphics. Both systems include wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, so you can leave your phone in your pocket and still access your apps, music, and messages.

All trims include a Wi-Fi hotspot (OnStar plan required), two USB ports up front (one Type-A, one Type-C), and SiriusXM trial subscription. The LT and above add two rear USB ports for charging devices in the back seat. Wireless charging is available on the LT, 2RS, and ACTIV when you opt for the Sunroof Package - a convenient spot to drop your phone and keep it topped up without cables.

The Driver Information Centre varies by trim. The 1RS and 1RS use a 3.5-inch monochromatic display, while the LT, 2RS, and ACTIV feature an 8-inch fully digital colour display that's easier to read and customise.

Safety Features That Come Standard

Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard across every Trax trim - no packages required. These systems work quietly in the background, helping you stay aware and react faster if something unexpected happens.

The Driver Confidence Package adds Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Park Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Every Trax includes an HD Rear Vision Camera (standard display on 1RS and 1RS, HD on LT and above), Teen Driver mode for coaching new drivers, and Buckle to Drive - a feature that won't let you shift out of Park until the driver's seatbelt is fastened.

Cargo Space and Cabin Comfort

The Trax offers 1,532 litres of cargo volume behind the first row - enough for a full grocery run plus hockey bags. With the rear seats up, you still get 725 litres, which handles everyday errands without folding anything down. The 60/40 split-folding rear seat lets you carry longer items while keeping a passenger seat available.

Heated front seats are available on the 1RS through the 1RS Convenience Package, and on the LT through the LT Convenience Package. A heated steering wheel is also included in the LT Convenience Package. The 2RS and ACTIV include Keyless Open and push-button start as standard. The 1RS and 1RS use a 6-way manual driver seat, while the 2RS and ACTIV include an 8-way power driver seat. The ACTIV goes further with 8-way power adjustment plus 2-way power lumbar support for longer drives.

Climate control is single-zone manual on the 1RS and 1RS, and single-zone automatic on the LT, 2RS, and ACTIV. The automatic system adjusts temperature on its own, so you set it once and let it work. The LT and above also include a cabin humidity sensor and windshield temperature sensor to keep the glass clear without constant adjustments.

Trim Highlights

The 1RS is the base trim and includes 17-inch Silver-painted steel wheels, manual climate control, and the 8-inch touchscreen. The 1RS Convenience Package adds Remote Start, carpeted rear floor mats, heated power-adjustable mirrors, body-colour mirror caps, heated front seats, and 17-inch Silver-painted aluminum wheels.

The 1RS starts at $29,833 and features 18-inch Black-painted machined aluminum wheels, a wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and RS exterior badging with Black accents. It's the sportiest-looking Trax without stepping up in price.

The LT starts at $30,833 and adds the 11-inch HD touchscreen, 6-speaker audio, 17-inch Gray-painted machined aluminum wheels, and roof rails. The LT Convenience Package brings Keyless Open, a wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated power mirrors. The new Midnight Edition is available on the LT, adding High Gloss Black wheels, mirror caps, roof rails, and Black exterior badging.

The 2RS starts at $33,033 and includes 19-inch Black-painted machined aluminum wheels, the 8-way power driver seat, Keyless Open and push-button start, and RS exterior trim. It's the performance-styled choice with the largest wheels in the lineup.

The ACTIV also starts at $33,033 and features 18-inch Black-painted aluminum wheels, ACTIV exterior badging, Titanium Chrome fascia accents, and the 8-way power driver seat with 2-way power lumbar. The ACTIV is built for buyers who want a more rugged look with extra comfort features.

What's New for 2026

The 2026 Trax introduces the Midnight Edition on the LT trim, which includes High Gloss Black alloy wheels with Black bowtie centre caps, High Gloss Black mirror caps and roof rails, Black fascia inserts, and Black exterior badging. New LPO accessories include Silver and Black wheel centre caps with Black bowtie, plus standard and Black wheel locks.
