GM Canada's Car Assembly Plants in Oshawa, home to the Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, the Buick Allure and the Pontiac Grand Prix, outperformed 84 other eligible car and truck assembly plants throughout North and South America by recording the fewest quality concerns to win Gold and Silver in the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. Oshawa Plant 2 wins the Gold Plant Quality Award for the second time and Oshawa Plant 1 took Silver. Bronze went to a GM plant south of the border – the GM Hamtramck Plant in Detroit, Michigan. GM also earned a number of "highest ranked" vehicle awards in the same J.D.Power and Associates Initial Quality Study including:
